To the "Böhmenteich"
The picturesque sited „Böhmen“ with its two ponds is located between Bad Langensalza and the district Thamsbrück. This moist biotope developed some rich fauna and flora, very for the benefit of many water birds, as for example swans, storks, wild ducks, grey herons and so forth, that cavorting in these waters. The bigger pond is lined with benches where one easyly can take a rest.
At the „Böhmenteich“
Immediately at the ponds is located the so called "Böhmenhaus„ (Bohemianhouse), which was a popular place for excursions of the inhabitants of Langensalza and its visitors for a long time. It was built in 1665 and was the former economy house of the cloister Homburg. This cloister faced to the "Böhmenhaus". The idyllic hill invites hiking friends to stay. The "Böhmenteiche„ (ponds) are managed by the angler sports club of our city. Fishing friends find here ideal possibilities for the realization of their hobby.
Route description
starting point car park visitor information (Friedrich-Mann Str.) – along the „Kurpark“ - further along the "Böhmenstrasse" pass the hot spring - along the "Katzenstieg" of the "Kastanienallee" (chestnut avenue) – at the parting of the ways take the lower path- along the "Trimmpfad" to the „Böhmenteich“ - or along the highway until the village Thamsbrück, in order to turn into there
Way back via the "midget-Wartburg"
on our way back from the „Böhmenteich“ we follow the left way at the forking, the "Pfaffenstieg" - at the end of the „Pfaffenstieg“ to the right -pass the sewage plant - again to the right in the "Lange Rasen" (long lawns) - left hand we find the garden of the house no. 4 the "Small Wartburg" – further along the "Long lawns" - into direction "Böhmenstrasse" in direction Kurpark.
