How to get to the Hainich nationalpark

The Hainich nationalpark can be reached easily with any means of transportation.
Journey by railroad and bus
From 1.May up to the 31.October buses of the local districts "Unstrut-Hainich" and "Wartburg" are on their way at the weekends and on puplic holidays around the national park. They start in Eisenach and Bad Langensalza to Mühlhausen. You receive schedules at all nationalpark information centres.
The journey points of the buses are located in Kammerforst, Craula, Berka, Lauterbach, Weberstedt and at the Thiemsburg. From those points you can choose your individual hiking route. Additionally the "Hainich-Express" drives from Mülverstedt to Ihlefeld also up to the 31.October at weekends and puplic holidays, directly to the national park. To be seen in the „Wanderkarte" (map of trails) or in the „Info-Punkte" (info-points) of the web site www.nationalpark-hainich.de for the individual hiking ways!
On workdays you have the possibility to reach the Hainich nationalpark from Eisenach, Mühlhausen and Bad Langensalza by public transport. There are further information about the public transport system of Mühlhausen or Bad Langensalza under http://www.regionalbus.de/ and for Eisenach under http://www.kvgeisenach.de.
Comming from outside the Thuringian area we recommend the Deutsche Bahn (railway). The railway stations Mühlhausen, Bad Langensalza or Eisenach can be reached from everywhere in Germany. You obtain further information at the railway station counter, or - very comfortable - on the home page of the railroad (http://www.bahn.de/)
In addition different taxi-companies offer rides into the nationalpark to fixed prices. You obtain nearer information on that in the participating enterprises:
Eisenach at 03691 / 29000
Bad Langensalza at 03603 / 848444
Mühlhausen at 03601 / 441085
Journey by car
On the map you can see access roads to be taken to the parking lots of the Hainich nationalpark to change for those special buses. These entrances to the hiking ways are also signposted around the nationalpark. Pay attention to the brown signs!
