Oostkamp
Oostkamp lies in the north of West Flanders province in Belgium. The nearest bigger city is Bruges which is 7 km away. Since the 1st January 1977 this municipality consists of the towns Oostkamp, Ruddervoorde, Hertsberge and Waardamme and has a size of 7.964 hectare and 21.395 inhabitants.

Through the favorable situation next to two motorways, industry settled and Oostkamp could develop to a high-powered and successful municipality. The municipality-building, inaugurated in 1883, has an impressive council-hall. It shows pictures of all mayors of Oostkamp and monarchs of Belgium.

A special enrichment for the municipality is the sport and culture center "De Volkart". This complex houses a swimming pool, a gym, a theater and different culture rooms. A former mill "De Wieke", sited in the center of Oostkamp, today is used as a cultural center by the municipality, where European artists exhibit their works. The municipality is surrounded by 20 castles which are mostly in private possession and are inhabited. Four municipality parks as well as numerous bike and hiking trails invite to recover and relax. The „Golden-Sporen-Marathon“ (golden-spore-marathon) of Flanders, a route of 42 km, from Kortrijk to Bruges leads through the center of Oostkamp every year in July.
