In the upper part of the building is a diet teaching-kitchen and a big hall which is used for meetings, different events or weddings. In the lower part is the visitor information, a library where one can also find different brochures. Behind the castle is the romantic palace garden with the orangery, fountain cottages, shed, sphinx-sculptures and the cavalier cottages which invites to coffee and cake.

By the order of the duchess widow Friederike of Saxony-Weißenfels the castle was built in the rococo style in front of the gates of the city wall from 1748 until 1751. It has high stepped mansard roofs with decorated dormers. Above the entry portal is the coat of arms of Weißenfels.

In order to enrich the cultural life of the city, chamber concerts and small art programs are performed in the festival room. The jazz concerts presented in the vault basement are a charm-full contrast between the past and presence. They constructed cavalier cottages in the same architectural style on both sites of the castle. In one of them is the administration of the cure society Bad Langensalza and in the other one is now a café.
