Wiegleben
Wiegleben was first mentioned in 775. The district counts 436 inhabitants and belongs to Bad Langensalza since 01.09.1993. It is 7,2 km far away from the cure city. Today the village is one of the most beautiful rural local parts of Bad Langensalza and at the same time the highest with a marvellous view over the countryside of Thuringia.

The history of Wiegleben had a changeable course. In the 11th century Wiegleben came under the domination of the count of Thuringia. In 1347 count Friedrich II of Thuringia gave some manors in Aschara, Eckardtsleben, Zimmern and Wiegleben to some gentlemen of Salza, with headquarters on the Dryburg of Bad Langensalza. After extinction of the family of Salza, Wiegleben came back to the counts of Thuringia. In the years 1485 - 1640 Wiegleben came to the Ernestine Line of the dukes of Saxony. In 1640 it was under the domination of the dukes of Gotha-Altenburg and in 1825 under the domination of the dukes of Gotha. Since 1918 Wiegleben belongs nominally to the Thuringia country.
The village offers many attractions for leisure time. For example, between meadow and church, a former school building is today an attractive Wellness temple. In the village there is a technique exhibition with devices as they were used formerly in the agriculture. In addition there is a petting-zoo with goats, donkeys and rabbits. The open-air swimming pool in Wiegleben is a popular destination for everyone.
