The church originates from the year 1607. Its predecessor which was found at the same place was destroyed by a flash of lightning. The village lying north of the „Steinberg“ forms with the „Harth“ and the „Wieglebener Höhe“ the connection of the „Hainich“ with the „Fahnerschen Höhen“.
